This is the new Beat. It's not an S2000, it's not a Del Sol, it's a freaking Beat.

I guess it's time for Honda to find a new Beat.

BUT if they drop in the 2.0L Turbo from the Civic R they'd easily have an S2k successor. Think Fiesta vs FiST. It'd be a killer Miata, 370z, and baby Benzo fighter.
Also when I checked to see what the Type R's engine size was I noticed the MSRP is going to be £32,295... that's $48k USD... What?!

SHEEEEEEIT!!!! They can keep the Type-R.

Haha. Near $50k civic?

Is that the new civic convertible?

It's crazy. Back in 06 the Neon was $5k cheaper than it's nutso brother the SRT-4. Today the FoST is $7k more than a generic Focus, FiST is $6k more than a Fiesta... but the Type R is $30k more than a base Civic. What the shit. You can literally buy 2 base civics AND have $12k in your pocket.
I can justify spending an extra couple grand, say 30% of the standard cost, to justify getting the super awesome race model. But 260% more? wow

If they sold the new CTR in the US - which they almost certainly will not - it wouldn't cost that much. Direct currency conversions are completely meaningless. Also, the base price of the new Type R will actually be below £30,000—the GT version is the one that'll cost £32,000.

Exactly, the Golf R is about £30,000, but sold at 40K in the US.
The Civic Type R is going to be the exact same.

It's because when most people think of two door Honda roadster, they think of the S2000. They forget about the much more obscure Beat.
But people on the internet love to talk about what they know nothing about. Like the new Mercedes Benz Mid-size Pick Up everyone freaked out about.
So many comments "Mercedes has no experience with pick ups, they will fail"
Mercedes probably has the same heavy-duty pedigree as any American truck brand, they just don't have it in North America.

I soooo hope we get this in America. I might sell my BRZ for this.

I want my (eventually) imported Beat to sit beside my (eventual) S1000!

That would sell. They'd have to fix the windshield

Maybe that's why they won't bring it here.
